Who Gonna Change?
It's been an all consuming month since the floods devastated the Northern Rivers around me and, tragically it has happened again. I write this as flood waters recede and we await to return to the task at hand of cleaning up, again.
As some you may know, I am a songwriter and musician first and foremost. It's true that I find it the easiest way to express myself.
Whilst cleaning in Lismore post the apocalyptic 'rain-bomb' event of the century, I penned this song. Within a day it was produced by Grammy-winning producer Nick Didia (Bruce Springsteen).
'Who Gonna Change?' has been written to help Lismore feel seen and to help raise their spirits. It prompts us all to face the truth of a failing system, the facts about our climate and ask the really important questions; Who Gonna Pay? Who Gonna Change?

Lyrics:
Who Gonna Pay? Who Gonna Change?
Who Gonna Pay? Who Gonna Change?
Cos the water came higher than the highest time
Over the bridge and down Wotherspoon
I saw a house that came floating down
from across the street upon the Skating Rink.
Plastic bags and tyres in trees
sidewalks mountains of muddy everything
white goods, swollen wood & mattresses,
dead cars, old guitars, & stolen memories,
Who Gonna Pay? Who Gonna Change?
Who Gonna Pay? Who Gonna Change?
Cos the water came higher than the highest time
So much higher this time
No shops, No home
No place to go
You can see it in the towns eyes
Hope is hard to find
Oh this is what it looks like when money is King
This is what it looks like when the system is failing
& the climate keeps changing
So Who Gonna Pay? Who Gonna Change?
Who Gonna Pay? Who Gonna Change?
Who Gonna Pay? Who Gonna Change?
Who Gonna Stay? Who Gonna?
